A visit to the Dungeness Valley Creamery in Sequim, WA is always fun, especially if you have kids. When you pull up, you will notice a few rows of little shelters. Those little homes house the baby calves. When we pulled up, there were no babies out and I worried for a second that the main attraction was not there that day. Maybe they don't have the calves out during the winter, I thought.
We parked, the kids got out and ran right over to the little enclosures and I was glad to find out that my worries were unfounded. The calves got so excited they all came out. Some were frolicking around, some were mooing, all looked excited to have visitors!
The calves aren't the only thing to see at the creamery. Across the driveway, you will see the milking barn. Inside, and out, you will see the Milking Cows. They all have tags with their names on them and they aren't shy about saying "Hi" either.
You will also see their onsite store. We like to treat the kids to some ice cream from the store when we visit. You will also find their Raw Milk in the store as well as locally made crafts, soaps, fermented foods, cheeses and more. It's a small store but definitely worth checking out if you are there anyway.
We typically pair a trip to the creamery with another adventure such as a trip to the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge or the Olympic Game Farm. A trip to the Creamery is usually quick, but it is such a great place to top off the day, especially with a bowl of ice cream! Did I mention, what a great way to teach the kiddos where their milk comes from?
