When we first arrived at Cape Disappointment, we weren't sure what to expect. We hadn't planned on visiting this area, so we were open for anything. We parked and headed out. There was quite a hill to climb to get to the Fort and Interpretive center.
We did make it to the top and David was pretty excited to start exploring the old battery.
There was a lot to see, many corridors to explore, old artillery shells on display and some interpretive signs to give you some information on the Fort.
The boys loved running around exploring the grounds, looking for ghosts and imagining what it would be like to be there when it was in it's hay-day.
Of course they tried every door and every lock, they found "hidden" buildings and rooms, and ran up and down every staircase at least once.
I wish we had packed a picnic lunch. They had some nice picnic tables complete with a beautiful view that would have been perfect to sit and take it all in.
This is a great place for kids to explore and learn some history. It is right next to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center as well, which is another good activity for the kiddos (and adults alike), You won't be disappointed with the view either.
