In August of 2019, we visited the World's Longest Beach in Longbeach, WA. We chose to stay at the Inn at Discovery Coast. I chose the Inn because we love more modern lodging options and from the second I visited there website I knew it would be one of our top picks. We chose to stay in one of the new "Pool House" rooms. I could not find any information on the website regarding a pool so we weren't too sure what to expect. We knew from the website photos and information that the Inn was located just steps to the beach and had an onsite restaurant, both pluses in our book. We loved the look of the room on the website, especially the wood floor! (Carpet in hotel rooms is just GROSS!)
We arrived and were a bit confused to find out that the Inn at Discovery Coast and the Adrift Hotel and Spa were essentially the same hotel with the same check in counter. We did love the atmosphere of the front desk and lounge area. The decor was modern and industrial, the front desk agent was very welcoming and very knowledgeable as well. She informed us that our room either came with a voucher for breakfast at the onsite restaurant or a basket breakfast delivered to our room (major BONUS that I wasn't even aware of). She also informed us of the free coffee, tea and water bar located in the lounge area. There we found an assortment of different teas, coffees and infused water. We, of course, tried every water during our stay and they were all delicious! The lounge also offered movies to use and bikes to check out.
The most exciting thing we discovered was their scavenger hunt programs. These were super fun to try and do with the kids. There were a few different options for the type of scavenger hunt you wanted to do. There were activities to complete, restaurants to visit, and more. We were excited to get started.
We got the keys to the room and headed to our building. It was newly constructed and smelled like newly cut cedar. We realized when arriving at the building that there was no swimming pool (but there would be soon), they were working on it during our stay. The building we stayed in was farther back from the beach that we had thought it was going to be, but we still had a view from our balcony.
When we walked into our room, we were blown away. As I mentioned, we love modern style lodging. The rooms were super clean and had a modern industrial look, just as the lobby had. We had chocolate on the pillows and our champagne that we opted for (it was my hubby's b-day) waiting for us. Such nice over the top details!
The bathroom had a stall shower as well as a soaking tub with a barn door that opened it up to the sleeping quarters. The tub was complete with mini rubber duckies and bath salts. The shower was complete with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Of course, since the tub was jetted, our 5 year old had to take at least 1 bath a day!
The room was complete with a small coffee station, mini fridge, microwave, and fireplace. The "kitchen" area was well stocked with teas, a coffee press, sugars, an honor bar and more.
We opted for the room service breakfast basket each morning and it did not disappoint. Fresh fruit, juices, homemade muffins, it was all so good we didn't even get a photo of the whole basket since we dug in before snapping one.
By the end of our stay, we did complete one of the scavenger hunts. We were rewarded with a credit to their snack bar in the lounge. We got a few goodies for everyone, even a bottle of wine to enjoy on our last night. What an amazing program that encourages you to really experience the town and all it has to offer, plus rewards you for having fun!
Of all the places we have stayed over the years, this was our favorite. The only regret we had was not being able to enjoy the restaurant. Maybe next time. We will definitely be going back someday, we have more scavenger hunts to complete and a brand new pool to try out!
