Top 5 Breakfast Restaurants, Port Angeles

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

If you are traveling to the Northern Olympic Peninsula or live around here and are looking for a yummy meal to start your day, look no further. Here I give you our top 5 family friendly, kid-approved restaurants in Port Angeles. We apologize that we aren't able to include mouth-watering photos with our recommendations, but due to Covid, we have not been able to go out to breakfast as we used to. Once Covid passes, check back often for photos and more in depth reviews!

704 Marine Dr. Port Angeles (360)452-6600

If you like decadent sweet breakfasts, this is the place for you. With Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and French Toast Rolls stuffed with cream cheese and strawberries topped with cinnamon and sugar, this place can please any sweet tooth. Their Corned Beef Hash and Eggs Benedict are also tasty.

The diner is a small hole in the wall across from the marina. When we visit with a larger (more than 4) party, they usually put us in one of their back rooms. I would definitely call ahead for larger parties since they don't have much space.

612 S Lincoln Ave. Port Angeles (360)457-1656

Shirley's Cafe is a no-frills cafe offering typical home style breakfast fare. The waitstaff are always friendly and you will never have to wait long for your food.

The kids and I always love their waffles or pancakes with a side of hashbrowns!

The best part of this diner is that it is so kid friendly. They have a train along the top of the wall they turn on when kids are dining. It makes a few laps around the restaurant of course blowing it's whistle multiple times. It's always such a hit with the kids and they can't wait for it to go around. In addition to the train, the atmosphere is just totally kid friendly; when my kids were young, they got away from us once or twice and took off through the restaurant. The staff and guests alike were waving and chatting with them. A simple very kid friendly dining option for a stress free breakfast.

102 W Front St. Port Angeles (360)504-2924

New Day Eatery is a more healthy option, using organic and locally sourced ingredients when possible. They have a smoothie and juice bar as well if you just need to start your day off with a good protein shake. They have many options for specialty diets as well.

Their breakfasts are delicious. My go-to is their coconut pancakes, you will never have anything more delicious! If you are not in the mood for sweet, try their Pulled Pork Hash. Their smoothies and coffees are so delicious as well. The perfect pairing for your yummy breakfast.

The restaurant is located right in downtown if you wanted to do a little walking around after filling your belly.

929 E Front St. Port Angeles (360)452-8344

Probably the fanciest of the breakfast options, walking into Chestnut Cottage is like walking into an old Victorian Mansion. Don't let this dissuade you though, the staff is very friendly and the food delicious! If you are worried about your little one being a little stir crazy, they have toys and things for purchase in the lobby. A couple times I have gone ahead and bought a little water painting pad just to keep him busy during the wait. They provide crayons and a coloring page for the kids as well.

Their cinnamon rolls are delicious and a close second to First Street Haven's. Their Veggie Browns, Eggs Benedict and French Toast are scrumptious as is pretty much everything on their menu. We have never been disappointed. Don't forget their fresh squeezed Orange Juice! Yum!

The restaurant is large and always has room for larger parties. They also have patio seating if it's a nice day!

107 E 1st St. Port Angeles (360)457-0352

Hands down the best Cinnamon Roll in town. Their specialty coffee can also be topped off with the most delicious house-made espresso whipped cream. So yummy! Their Veggie Browns are too good to pass up and my favorite breakfast in town! I always add eggs and bacon to them and make sure to smother them with the salsa that is served with them.

Be aware though, this restaurant is very hole-in-the-wall. The space is very, very small making it uncomfortable for large groups. If you are able to, call ahead and make a reservation for one of their larger tables, especially if you have a group of 4! Another option would be to order pick up because their food is just so worth it!
